Ask anyone who
has ever been to see a show by Torbay's Marian McDermott School of Dance
and they will be sure to say how impressed they were. Marian literally
spends a whole year choreographing and producing a really unique and creative
ballet story for her many students to perform. This year's show is no
exception. The school proudly presents "The Magic Lake", a full
length entertaining original ballet which tells the story of a quest to
find magic lake water to cure a wounded Prince.
The talented
young dancers perform many varied roles from the Lords, Ladies and Princesses
of the palace to the beautiful naiads and draiads (water and forest spirits),
delicate butterflies and even the spectacular northern lights.
With hundreds
of performers wearing absolutely stunning costumes this ballet is a must
see for all the family.
As if that isn't
enough this is also your chance to catch one of the hottest new youth
dance companies to come out of the North Shore. One Step Beyond is the
name of a dynamic new group of talented teenagers. The troupe will open
the show with a varied programme of contemporary dance which promises
to showcase the choreographic and performance skills of these inspired
young dancers. Launched only in August, One Step Beyond has already been
out performing all over the Shore to critical acclaim. Don't miss them!
