Term
4 Newsletter 2003
Hello Everyone
Show Congratulations:
What a fantastic show! I would like to congratulate all the students on
their marvellous performances. You should ALL be very proud of yourselves!
It was such a pleasure for me to see you all rise to the occasion and
give your very best. You all performed very professionally indeed. Well
done!

Thank You:
Thank you again to all the helpers. It always makes the job of putting
on the show so much more achievable when I get plenty of offers to help.
Everything went very smoothly on the day and it was great to see so many
smiling and willing faces.
Three Performances Needed in 2004:
It is clear, that in order to cater for our ever-increasing audience we
will need to schedule three performances next year. In order to cater
for the needs of the youngest students, Level 1 and Level 2 will learn
the same parts and Level 1 will perform for one performance and Level
2 will perform for the other two. Hopefully this will solve the problem
of the little ones often finding the show very tiring.
Photos:
Photos are still available for ordering. There are now also some photos
of the actual performance too which can be ordered using the order forms
provided. The deadline for photo orders will be the end of week two of
term 4 (October 17th) so don't forget to fill out a form if you want photos.
Thank you Wendy Cain for taking the photos of the
performance - some of which appear on this web site.

Katie Burton is Back for Term 4:
I am pleased to welcome Katie back after her very successful experience
choreographing for the Nelson Wearable Arts Show. Katie's latest project
is producing a new dance work for her Vacuum PACT Dance Company called
"The Lens" for the Tempo Auckland Dance Festival. Her show will
be performed at TAPAC, Motion Rd, Western Springs between 13 - 15 November.
I'm sure you will all join me in wishing her the very best of luck for
her show. Katie will also teach the Contemporary Dance classes in term
4.
End of Term Demonstrations:
This term classes will be working towards the end of year demonstrations
where certificates and reports will be presented. Classes that normally
attend on the same day will combine in the last week with each class demonstrating
some of the work they have done over the year. Friends and families are
invited to this more formal session. The students are asked to come dressed
very tidily with hair tied up neatly.
The schedule for the last week will run as follows:
Monday 8th December: 4.00pm - 5.30pm: Levels 1, 3
and 7/8
Tuesday 9th December: 4.30pm - 6.00pm: Levels 2, 4 and Pointe
Wed 10th December: 5.00pm - 6.30pm: Levels 5/6, 7/8 & Teens/Adults
Thursday 11th December: 6.00pm - 7.15pm: Elementary and Intermediate
Friday 12th December: 5.00pm - 6.15pm: Both Contemporary classes
Classes for 2004:
I am working hard on finalising the timetable for next year. There are
many classes to be timetabled. It is a very complicated task to fit everything
into the hours the hall is available. Consequently most classes will find
that their scheduled class time will alter in some way in 2004. A detailed
2004 timetable will be given out towards the end of term 4.
Level 6/7 in 2004:
There will be two classes per week scheduled for the students who will
be working at Level 6/7 ballet in 2004. By this level it is necessary
for the students to come more regularly in order to achieve the more advanced
technical ballet goals, safely and effectively. I recommend that if you
are at this level you try very hard to attend both classes next year.
Survey:
Later this term I hope to undertake surveys that will help me improve
the service I provide to you all. A survey form will be sent home for
you to complete in about week 5 of the term. Please take the time to fill
out a form - you will have the opportunity to comment on the classes and
make suggestions.
Thank you for your continued support of the ballet
programme. I am looking forward to a very positive finish to the year.
Marian
