Hello Again Everyone
2006 is well underway and
the first term is already coming to an end. Term 1 finishes on Thursday
April 13th. This year the holidays are a little shorter and we start back
on Wednesday 26th - the day after Anzac Day.
Term 2 Timetable and Fees:
Parents and caregivers - please come in to the studio on your first day
back to pay term fees. The timetable for term 2 is the same as for term
1 but fees may be different depending on how many classes there will be.
Please note that we do not issue individual invoices unless specifically
requested. Fees can be paid with cash, cheque or by direct debit. The
school's bank account details are as follows: Marian McDermott School
of Dance: 12 3059 0468074 000. Please write "Dance fees" and
clearly state the student's name if paying by direct debit. Fees can also
be posted to me at 1/17 Infidel Place, Torbay, Auckland 1311.
Enrolment Forms:
If you haven't already filled in an enrolment form for 2006 please do
so - I need an updated one from everyone each year please.
New Zealand Dancer Magazine:
Some of you will already know that our other ballet tutor, Katie Hayward
is currently producing a dance magazine to be published quarterly and
available to dance students nationwide. The first issue comes out at the
start of Term 2 and some of our students will feature within it. Look
out for it as it is well worth a read. I'm sure you will all join me in
congratulating Katie on her initiative to produce a much needed magazine
for New Zealand dancers.

Teachers Course:
Marian and Katie are keeping up to date with new ideas by attending a
ballet teacher's course taken by Timothy Gordon, the director of a new
Auckland based professional ballet company called "Company Z".
Timothy has taught and danced with major companies and dance schools all
over the world.
Contemporary Dance:
Our new tutor, Colette Arnold is doing a fabulous job and the students
just love her. There are still a few places available in the class for
students aged 9 years + so let Marian know if you would like to join.
The class is held on Tuesdays from 3.45pm - 4.45pm.
Classes Full:
Numbers in the classes are excellent with the following classes completely
full already: Ballet Levels 1, 2, 3, Pre Elementary and Intermediate and
Contemporary Dance for Experienced Teenagers. Waiting lists will need
to be started for these classes.
